Chvrches hits back at Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park

It is not known why, but Linkin Park's Mike Shinoda decided to call out a series of groups that he does not actually like, with little emphasis on the Scottish electronic group Chvrches. The young group has replied, with Lauren Mayberry accusing Mike of attempting to get some cheap publicity for Linkin Park's 2014 album called The Hunting Party, admitting that this is not coolest musical feud in the world.

The problem started when Mike, in an interview, talked negative things about Vampire Weekend, HAIM and Chvrches. He told that there is so much music out there; there is so much stuff that sounds like Chvrches or Vampire Weekend of Haim or that he is full. He added that the thing he is hungry for is not that. He turn on the rock station in L.A. and it sounds like Disney commercial music. And he is confused by that.

Speaking to an Australian magazine, he stated that music of today is derivative. He feel like there are a handful of groups that are the parent bands of almost everything that is going on. It is like everything that is going on out there is like some combination of M83, MGMT, Mumford & Sons, Arcade Fire and few other groups. He feel like every time he listens to a rock band, it is just some derivative version of that stuff. And that is the thing that annoys him.

In reply, Chvrches frontwoman Laura Mayberry told that it is not a coincidence that his group has a record to sell and he mentions many bands that people are writing about, but if you are going to go into it, she really do not like being called a sell-out by the person who wrote the music for the MTV VMA's.
